Congratulations to Ethan Taplin the 2020 recipient of the Adam Litteken #6 Scholarship. Ethan is the son of Paul and Karin Taplin of St. Peters, Missouri. Ethan has a cumulative GPA of 3.6. and is an honor roll student in grades 9-12 and a member of the DECA marketing club. He is also an ACT Superstar with a score of 25. Ethan played hockey for St. Peters Spirit, AIC Prospects, Chesterfield Falcon CSDHL, and Francis Howell Central Varsity. He has worked part time as a MIHOA hockey referee. He has also volunteered for the Blues Special Hockey organization for 8 years. Ethan plans to attend Missouri State University to major in Entrepreneurship/Business Management, then attend culinary school after graduation.
Ethan’s essay stated he started playing hockey in the first grade and never realized how much he would learn or how much this sport would mean to him. Ethan said, “Hockey has given me a form of undeniable, unmatchable, education for life”. Chris Wirtel, Varsity Head Coach for Francis Howell Central Hockey said, “Ethan is passionate, hardworking, dedicated and committed to his team and teammates”.
Due to COVID-19 this year’s hockey banquet was limited to honoring the senior class and presented outside at Francis Howell Central High School, while limited attendees practiced social distancing. The Litteken family was not present but did provide, an introduction speech that was read and a 2020 recipient jacket. Ethan will be given a $1,000 scholarship award and commemorative plaque. Way to go Ethan!
